Biography

Dr. Andreas Schumacher is currently Global Head of Equipment & Engineering within Scientific Operations at Novartis Biomedical Research. After a PhD in chemistry with Prof. Andreas Pfaltz in Basel and a postdoc with Prof. Andy Myers at Harvard University, Andreas joined Novartis in 2013. Over the past 10 years at Novartis, he has held positions of increasing responsibilities including Global Head of Operational Compliance in Novartis Biomedical Research and Director Strategy & Operations within Trial Management at Novartis Global Drug Development. The diverse areas of pharmaceutical R&D that he has explored throughout his career have given him a wide range of experience and a proven track record in regulatory compliance, risk assessment, project management, strategy & operations and people development. He is driven by lean operations and is always looking for ways to maximize value by optimizing resources and creating solid workflows.
