Biography
I have a metallurgical engineering degree from the University of Minnesota. I have worked in the foundry industry for over 25 years. In the rapid prototype, aerospace, automotive and commercial. Much of my experience is aluminum and magnesium castings for engine components and structural. The metal casting companies I have work for are Carley Foundry, Progress Casting, Amcast Industrial, ALCOA and Chicago Magnesium. I develop casting processes and casting tooling. The challenge for shaped castings is dimensional and metallurgical. I currently work for Honeywell Aerospace working collaboratively with our foundry suppliers for turbo fan engine castings.
Working to integrate the new technologies such as CT scanning, structured light scanning, transfer legacy drawings to CAD models, replacing aging tooling with new tooling, replacing legacy castings with new castings, 3D printing for aerospace castings legacy and NPI (New Product Introduction.)
